UFM Community Learning Center is a creative educational program serving Kansas State University, Manhattan, Junction City, Wamego, and other communities across Kansas. UFM offers a variety of noncredit and K-State credit classes for all ages and interests. UFM provides opportunities for lifelong learning and personal development based on the philosophy that everyone can learn and everyone can teach. Instructors represent all areas of the community. Class topics include arts and hobbies, cooking, languages and communication, martial arts, culture and history, career skills, recreation and fitness, health and wellness, and youth-focused classes. Course catalogs are published three times a year during the fall, spring, and summer. Patrons can view classes and register by visiting tryufm.org or by calling the office at 785.539.8763. UFM serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas and as a catalyst for new programs and services that enhance the quality of life for all. UFM coordinates several other programs, the Manhattan Community Gardens (available for Riley Co. residents), the Teen Mentoring Program, Project EXCELL a program for adults with developmental disabilities, and the Lou Douglas Lecture Series that seeks to extend understanding of public policies with a focus on social justice issues. UFM also coordinates the Lifetime Learning program for learners age 50+ to enrich their social, cultural, and intellectual learning opportunities.Categories
