Recycle Center and Hazardous Waste, Geary County
Details
The Geary County Recycling Center is the collection center for common hazardous materials that can be found in households as well as other recyclable goods listed below. Please check in with the Noxious Weed Department office at 310 E. 8th St. before unloading.
- Steel and aluminum cans: Cans must be rinsed; no need to remove labels.
- Plastics: No. 1 and No. 2 plastic only, lids and caps must be removed. Food and beverage containers must be rinsed out; no unwashed items accepted. No plastic bags or Styrofoam.
- Paper products: Newspaper, magazine, telephone books, along with office papers are now accepted with no exceptions or restrictions.
- Corrugated cardboard: Boxes must be broken down.
- Household hazardous waste: Accepted waste includes turpentine, paint and wood stains, furniture polish, household cleaners, toilet cleaners, disinfectants, antifreeze, used motor oil and filters, transmission fluid, brake fluids, car batteries, cell phone batteries, rechargeable batteries, pesticides, and insecticides.
- Electronics: Accepted waste includes computers (all parts), laptops, monitors, printers, copiers, fax machines, DVD players, VCRs, stereos, televisions, and cell phones.
